Welcome to ReImagining Work Relationships(tm)

My whole thing is about Human beings at work. You will see me capitalize the word “Human” because I want to emphasize it every chance I get. I am passionate about reminding managers, employees, business owners, HR professionals and executives that “these are Human beings working here,” so let’s treat them humanly. I do not mean “humanely,” which implies, to me, meeting the bare minimum of human needs. I say “humanly” because to me it means, “with thought and attention, as if the person matters.”

I’m a former HR manager, from a Fortune 100 company. In 2004 I chose to go out on my own to develop and articulate my vision about Humans at work, that I feel so strongly about. I am concerned for the respect given to the Human resources we employ in organizations. I suggest we need to “Re-Imagine Work Relationships” because we need something different – a different type of relating than we have ever had before, at work, among Human beings. I want to see us relate to each other with a reverence for the effort and contribution of our fellow Human beings at work.

My intent is to use this website as a forum to continue to develop and share my thoughts. The overview of my thoughts is under “The Manifesto.” I know “manifesto” sounds rather heavy, but I really like that it contains the word “manifest.” I want to see this vision come to fruition. I think our work-lives depend on it. You’ll find more on The Manifesto under The Manifesto, Elaborated.

I’ll also include here lots of things I’ve learned and coached managers and employees on, that will hopefully help you. See the Survive & Thrive section for how-to’s and how-to-think-about-things-differently.

In the Meet Mary section you will see what kinds of things I am really proud of, and that led me to shape this dream that I have for Humans at work and what I can do today for you, as an individual, or for your organization.

Thank you for visiting, and I hope to see you back here often.

Warm Regards,

Mary C Schaefer
